Update....

Well, I can't believe it's been nearly a month since I put up my exhibition...time flies. I just thought I'd post an update on my plans for the coming couple of months.

Next on the agenda is to get my website underway. I plan to add at least another 3 illustrations to launch the site with. However, the priority is to work on the design of the site (the border's, text etc.....)

The next project I have in mind will be a series of playing cards. Something friends and colleagues have been telling me to do for years. Recently, I've been intrigued by tattoo art. This is another area I am repetitively being told to explore....

In the meantime I'm trying to stick to my new year's resolutions. I'm so happy to have been able to tick of the solo exhibition from my list. Although, I'm already thinking about the next one......

In honesty....I still need to be a bit more of a 'social butterfly,' and I'm yet to 'take a risk.' On the whole though, I have very productive days, even when they are not directly focused around art. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum for the remaining 9 months of 2008!

Hey, have you sold any of your art from the exhibition?

Are you going to do the Italian style playing cards, or 'normal' ones? Make money out of the relatives! ;)

love from me and Uncle M

p.s. Mario's website changed at the start of the year to:

www.mariopetrucci.com

(so your link doesn't work anymore)

Hi Christina, Just came across some of your illustrations, I'm studying costume design in edinburgh and really like your designs very gormenghast. Was just wondering what materials you use in your illustrations and if they were designed for anything specific.
cheers emma

Hi Emma...thank you for the comment! I work with different grades of pencil on watercolour paper. The illustrations are based around obscure operas or are otherwise theatrically inspired. I did a degree in costume design for the performing arts followed by an MA in illustration, so my work is a cross between the two disciplines.....

Hey Anne....no sales yet!-( I was thinking about doing the italian playing cards but I have a good idea for the 'normal' ones....maybe I'll do both. Also would love to costume illustrate a deck of tarot cards. So much to do, so little time...
